The history of the radio in Ibiza

“The history of the radio in Ibiza” is the title of a double exhibition by the Consell d’Eivissa in collaboration with the Municipal Council of Sant Josep, which lasts until Friday, March 15th, and can be seen in Sa Nostra Sala in Ibiza Town.

At the same time the exhibition “The history of radio in Sant Josep” runs in the cultural center of Can Jeroni until Sunday, March 10th.

The double opening took place with greetings from the President of the Consell Insular, Vicent Torres, and the Mayor of Sant Josep, Josep Marí Ribas – broadcasted live on the radio, of course.

The exhibition traces the historical development of the technology on the island and “forgotten characters” who have paved the way. A very important historical event was highlighted when technicians at the top of the Sa Talaia mountain connected the cables for the first radio telegraphic transmissions in December 1902. This was the moment when the first connection of wireless telegraphy was established between the stations Puig Pelat and Cap de la Nau.
