New OKU hotel with a Japanese design concept: The perception of beauty

The new OKU hotel in Cala Gracio claims to have the “largest pool on the island”. OKU Ibiza is a boutique hotel and the first in the five-star category in this corner of the island.

It is one of the first two hotels of the new brand worldwide, alongside the OKU Hotel in Kos, Greece, which opened in 2020.

It boasts a 50 meter swimming pool (one of four pools), an exclusive spa area and its “bohemian” and minimalist design, inspired by the Japanese philosophy of Wabi-Sabi, which emphasizes the use of materials of natural origin and earthy colors. Wabi-Sabi is closely related to Zen Buddhism. The aesthetic concept stands for the “perception of beauty”.

Derived from this Japanese architectural and spiritual approach, a natural design was chosen for the hotel and implemented by the team from the award-winning MG&AG Arquitectos Ibiza, which has architecturally applied this concept to more than 60 residential and hospitality projects around the world.
