“Eivissa”: An intense and bumpy journey of change and inheritance

In her first film, German director Tini Lazar focuses on the island of Ibiza. It is in the center of attention. Lazar discovered the island in 2013 and was fascinated by the diversity of the picturesque landscapes and its inhabitants. She decided to make her first independent film about the island, with very little resources but full of vigor. Actresses in the piece with the simple title “Eivissa” include the actresses Maya Maria Drücker and Lenka Arnold (in the leading role of Isabelle), both living in Ibiza.

Romance, suspense and mysticism mix in this film, which speaks of the unexpected turns that life offers, and at the same time represents a timeless portrait of the island and the many colorful figures that live here. Filming locations selected for the story include the port of Ibiza Town and Dalt Vila, Atlantis and Benirràs. “Eivissa” tells the story of rock-solid banking specialist Isabelle, who, due to an unexpected inheritance, leaves her safe everyday life in Hamburg to travel to Ibiza. Soaked in by a mystical and completely alien world, she experiences an intense and bumpy journey that leads to an astonishing change of herself.
